Title:
Psygnosis 1997 Press Pack.
Format:
Press Kit.
Condition:
Very Good/Good.
The other metal shell case is generally in very good condition for something of this age, but it has unfortunately began to rust slightly on the edges.
Inside, the little booklet is absolutely perfect with no bends, creases or other damage, and the disc is in fantastic condition too besides a light surface mark following the rotation of the disc on the outer edge.
Information:
This is the 1997 press pack for Psygnosis. When I obtained this I didn’t anticipate it containing any real WipEout content, which is largely the case.
The little booklet briefly references back to WipEout XL as a past success, and the disc contained 9 screenshot images from 2097/XL amongst the myriad of others from the games it was trying to show off.
I did note however that there was a text file on there however labelled “WIPE.txt”. This contains a couple of paragraphs about the far lesser known arcade simulator machine called the Voyager F5000. The text file reads
“Voyager F5000
Voyager is truly the first fully interactive 2 seat leisure simulator utilising a full 6 of freedom electric motion platform. Manufact-ured by Leisure Dynamics Ltd it allows the two players to control the flight and perfor-mance of the craft through two independent joysticks. Viewing the game on a 38″ screen, with high resolution 3D graphics and surrounded by CD stereo sound supplied from 6 speakers, attacks all the players’ senses.
The key to enjoyment, however, is the game being played. Leisure Dynamics has linked up exclusively with Psygnosis Ltd to utilise their world renowned game “Wipeout”. This exciting racing and shooting game ensures both players are fully immersed in this futuristic world. The choice of 4 anti-gravity craft and 4 circuits gives a total of 16 scenarios for novice to experienced pilots. The co-pilot is fully engaged in trying to destroy your opponents with a choice of 12 different weapons.
Voyager is a completely automatic operat-ing unit with a pneumatically controlled door and full safety systems. The external point-of-sale unit has a 20″ monitor which shows the actual game being played.”
The disc also contains a selection of videos (for each of the games being shown off on it). Sadly there’s no video related to the Voyager F5000 amongst these though.
